About After You Sx 60

Crew

Captain: David Pott

Born and raised in South Africa, David now lives in Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK after spending ten years in Antibes, France. With more than twenty years of experience on motor yachts ranging from 32 m to 90m, he has captained prestigious charter vessels including M/Y OKTO (67m) and M/Y THE WELLESLEY (57m). His extensive background also includes time on well-known yachts such as M/Y NERO (90m), M/Y TITANIA (73m), M/Y SAIRAM (52m), and M/Y JEMS (44m). He has now been part of the AFTER YOU program

for four years.

A proud father of three, David is passionate about people, family, and creating memorable experiences for guests. In recent years, he has also served as an Owner’s Representative, overseeing three new build projects and strengthening his expertise in yacht operations and management.

David is delighted to be part of this special program and is looking forward to the upcoming world tour. His warm personality and can-do attitude immediately put guests at ease, and his eighteen years of charter experience have helped him build lasting relationships with charterers, brokers, and agents.

A keen sports enthusiast both on land and at sea, he enjoys sharing his knowledge of unique destinations, local restaurants, and hidden gems. His dedication and professionalism were recognized when he received the International ACREW Award for Best Charter Captain 3000GT in 2018. Guests are always welcome to join him on the bridge to see where the journey unfolds

Captain: Blair Venters

Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Blair moved at a young age to the coastal town of Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape, where a childhood spent surfing and bodyboarding sparked his deep respect and love for the ocean.

After finishing high school, he began studying accounting, but soon realized his passions lay elsewhere. What started as a planned one-year adventure in yachting, a chance to travel, gain experience, and repay his student loan before returning to study computer science, quickly turned into a career he couldn’t walk away from.

Since 2009, Blair has built a successful life at sea, cruising extensively through South Florida, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, France, and Italy. He thrives in the social, fast-paced nature of the industry and has worked on several well-known and active charter yachts, including M/Y SCOTT FREE, M/Y OBSESSION, M/Y LADY J, and M/Y GALAXY.

Away from the boat, Blair enjoys anything that gets the heart racing, from watersports and mountain biking to motorcycling and climbing. When he’s not at sea, he spends quality time with friends and family in the UK, which he now calls home.

First Officer: Greg Drake

Originally from the sunny coastal town of Ballito on SA’s east coast, Greg developed a natural love for the ocean from an early age. After completing a BCom degree in Brand Building and Business Management, his curiosity for adventure led him to join the yachting industry in 2014.

Over the past 10 years, Greg has built a diverse and successful career at sea, working across a variety of vessels including explorer yachts and sailing yachts. His dedication and professionalism have recently earned him his Chief Mate ticket, marking a significant milestone in his maritime journey. Greg’s enthusiasm for the ocean extends beyond his career. He is a certified Rescue Diver and an avid lover of the outdoors, with a passion for golf, trail running, and all things active.

Second Officer: Matt Flower

Born in Zimbabwe in 1996, Matt spent his early childhood on a family chicken farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and appreciation for the outdoors. He later moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where he lived until the age of 18 before setting off to explore the world. His travels and time working abroad gave him a wealth of life experiences and adventures.

In 2019, he discovered yachting — a natural fit for his love of the ocean and hands-on teamwork. M/Y AFTER YOU is now the fourth yacht in his career. Outside of work, Matt enjoys surfing, diving, hiking, fitness, and videography, always keeping active and busy.
