The Oldport 26 Yacht Club Launch is a scaled down version of the Wasque 33, a general-purpose bass boat.The lines for the Wasque had been taken originally from a Downeast Maine lobster boat.The Launch has traditional lines; a graceful shear with a high, flared bow, moderately high topsides with splash rails and slight tumblehome aft, and wide beam carried to the transom. Underwater, the V-sections are carried in a flat, clean run aft, with softchines and a small keel. The deck and interior are suited for comfortable, short-haul passenger carrying. The Launch has a short, high foredeck with storage underneath,and a big open cockpit with high coamings and a nicely rounded forward end. A continuous seat runs around the perimeter from quarter to quarter. There’s a long engine box amidships with stowage in the after end. The steering console is port,with the fuel tank to starboard to offset the weight of the console and operator.

The launch is powered by a four-cylinder, 80 hp Yanmar marine diesel engine. With a full load of 18 passengers, the Launch can make approx.12 knots Unloaded, they can do approx.16 knots, leaving very little wake. They are highly maneuverable at all speeds and have a low-speed turning radius better than most shorter launches.The steering is very positive and remains flat and stable during hard turns at full speed.The basic dimensions of the OldPort 26 have remained the same since the first Launch was built 43 years ago with an overall length of 25’ 10”, beam of 9’ 2”, draft of 3’,and a dry weight displacement of 5000 lbs.The standard launch comes with a port side steering console and the four-cylinder Yanmar 4JH-80 hp marine diesel engine.

The boats are all hand laminated to strict U.S. Coast Guard specifications, and each receives a USCG Certificate of Inspection. Other standard features include stainless boarding rails and handrails, non-skid decks, beefy hardware, and a full set of fenders rigged on the port side.
