For its size, the Tayana 55 is perhaps one of the most successful yachts in the world, with over 80 units built to date.
The Tayana 55 offers space and performance comparable to yachts over 65 feet. It even features a walk-in engine room. The large galley and ample storage make it ideal for long-term cruising in comfort and style. The expansive deck space and low-profile, functional silhouette give the Tayana 55 an elegant and seamanlike appearance.
CONSTRUCTION:
Solid fiberglass hull, hand-laminated to Lloyd's specifications. A grid of longitudinal and transverse foam-cored stringers provides maximum hull stiffness. The internal ballast is encapsulated cast iron in a modified fin keel, with draft options available. The rudder is skeg-mounted, with an internal stainless-steel rudder stock and full stainless-steel reinforcement. The deck is a composite construction made of closed-cell foam and lightweight wood sandwich core. All reinforced deck areas are strengthened with encapsulated marine-grade plywood. Deck fittings are through-bolted with stainless-steel backing plates.
The electronic instrumentation was installed two years ago and has never been used. The teak deck is in poor condition—some repairs could extend its use for a few more years, but realistically, a more drastic solution is needed.
