The Bermuda Schooner we offer is derived from the famous "America 1", designed by George Steer. From this renowned fast yacht from the mid 19th century a few replicas have been built. Though "Abel Tasman" is not a replica, she has the same lines. She has been proven seaworthy, fast and yet manageable for a small crew. She is now in commercial use can operate very well in the charter industry with 9 guests on board. The boat has a great looks with her schooner rig, clipper bow and rounded sides. The cockpit offers good protection and has a solid aluminum dodger. The deck is equipped with anti-slip mats. The fittings and equipment is of heavy quality and suitable for it's task. The hull is built of 10 mm steel which makes it suitable for extreme conditions such as expeditions to the coldest regions of the world. Not without reason she bears the name of a famous Dutch explorer. The boat has already made several of these trips. The previous owner has had a very extensive refit carried out which include the boat on the inside is completely sandblasted, with foam insulated and features an entirely new interior. Also the engine has been overhauled and the electrical system completely renewed.
The interior is cozy, practical in design and suitable for long stay on board for a group of up to 9 people . This makes her also suitable as a charter boat. The salon has a large U - shaped sofa and two sofas. The galley has a large stove with oven that also serves as a heater. In the salon is an additional diesel heater and a central heating system warms the rest of the boat. Next to the entrance on the right is a head with wardrobe for sailing gear. There are 3 double cabins in the bow and one double master cabin portside aft. Furthermore, in the bow is a head with shower and toilet. In the bow is a workspace and storage. In the stern is the engine room where we also find the technical installation .
This Bermuda Schooner is also to today's standards a very fast boat with a comfortable sea behaviour. We invite you for a visit on board in Den Oever (NL).
