The Hunter 41 Deck Salon has become one of the most popular cruising sailboats in its class thanks to its rare combination of interior volume, natural light, and simple sail handling. The raised deck-salon design creates a living space that feels far larger than most 41-foot sailboats, while the B&R rig and cockpit layout make sailing manageable for a couple or even a single skipper. Consistently praised for its comfort at anchor, entertaining-friendly cockpit, and bright, inviting interior, the Hunter 41 DS is an ideal cruiser for both weekends, extended voyages and live-aboard sailors.

The 2006 Hunter 41 Deck Salon is one of the most popular cruising sailboats ever produced by Hunter Marine, offering exceptional interior volume, abundant natural light, and easy sail handling in a highly livable 41-foot design.
Named Best Production Cruiser by Cruising World when introduced in 2006, the Hunter 41 DS combines thoughtful engineering with cruising comfort. The raised deck-salon design surrounds the main cabin with large panoramic windows, creating a bright and open interior that feels dramatically larger than most sailboats in this class.
Under sail, the boat’s fractional B&R rig with furling sails and signature overhead traveler arch deliver excellent sail control while keeping the cockpit clear and safe. The layout is designed for easy short-handed or single-handed sailing, making it ideal for cruising couples, families and owners who value simple, manageable systems.
A large cockpit with a fold-down helm seat and walk-through transom access to the swim platformprovides a comfortable space for relaxing underway or entertaining at anchor.

HUNTER 41 DECK SALON – ANA G III – COCKPIT
A highlight of the Hunter 41 Deck Salon, the cockpit is a spacious, thoughtfully designed area that comfortably seats up to nine people, making it equally enjoyable under sail, entertaining at the dock, or relaxing on the hook.
Forward of the helm you’ll find a centerline-mounted folding cockpit table with four integrated cupholders—perfect for casual meals or evening drinks aboard. Seating is arranged along generous port and starboard benches, complemented by comfortable double stern rail seats that provide a wonderful vantage point while underway.
At the stern, a fold away helmsman’s bench is center mounted, providing a comfortable position for the skipper. When it’s time to head ashore or go for a swim, the bench folds back into the swim platform to open the walkthrough transom leading to the swim and boarding platform that is integrated into the hull design. A center-mounted telescoping swim ladder tucks neatly away when not in use. Just inside the walkthrough on the starboard side you’ll find a hot and cold cockpit shower, while a manual bilge pump fitting is located opposite.
The tender mounted on davits is found at the stern, along with an outboard engine mount and flagpole holder that are positioned on the starboard stern rail.
The helm station is built around a Lewmar pedestal fitted with a hide-covered folding wheel, which makes moving around the cockpit easy when docked or at anchor. The helm is well equipped with a single-lever engine control, wheel brake, compass, chart plotter, wind instrument, autopilot control, and bow thruster control. The engine control panel is conveniently mounted in the starboard coaming.
Overhead, a stainless-steel arch spans the rear of the cockpit, carrying the mainsheet traveler above the seating area. The arch also houses a VHF radio, stereo speakers and a centrally mounted cockpit light.
Sail handling is straightforward and well organized. Foresail winches are mounted aft on both port and starboard coamings, while two additional winches are located on the cabin top beneath the dodger. All halyard and furling lines are led aft through cam cleats on the cabin top, while the main sheet and traveler lines are located at the helm, allowing the boat to be sailed short-handed with ease. Two line wells are integrated into the forward cockpit bulkhead on either side of the companionway, keeping the cockpit neat and clutter free.
Above the companionway you’ll find a Sony CD/radio along with a Clinometer.
Storage throughout the cockpit is generous. Beneath the port bench there is a large locker housing the generator, followed by a smaller aft locker. On the starboard side you’ll find a hatch under the bench followed by an additional locker aft. Two more lockers are located beneath the swim platform deck on either side of the ladder, with the port locker dedicated to the boat’s two propane tanks.
The cockpit is protected by a well-designed dodger with handrails and a Bimini top, connected by a full panel, curtains surround the cockpit to create a full weather enclosure when needed.
HUNTER 41 DECK SALON – ANA G III – DECK
Moving forward along the side decks, the boat is well protected by stainless-steel bow and stern rails connected by dual lifelines that run the length of the deck on both port and starboard sides. Boarding gates at the cockpit on both sides make access from the dock easy.
Stainless-steel handrails run along the cabin top, providing secure handholds as you move forward.
At the bow you’ll find a deep anchor locker that houses a bow-mounted Rocna Vulcan 20 anchor along with a Simpson Lawrence electric windlass with foot controls, a dedicated cleat, and a tie-down ring for secure anchoring.
On the cabin top, a centrally mounted dorade vent provides passive ventilation, complemented by four opening deck hatches that allow fresh air and natural light into the cabin below.
Docking is made easy with a total of eight cleats positioned throughout the deck—two at the bow, two forward amidships, two aft amidships, and two at the stern. Foresail lead tracks with adjustable cars are mounted on both port and starboard decks.
The rig features Selden spars with a double-spreader B&R rig configuration. The mast is equipped with in-mast mainsail furling, paired with a fractional roller-furled headsail and a boom fitted with a mechanical boom vang. The mainsheet is mounted aft to the stainless-steel arch above the cockpit, keeping the cockpit uncluttered.
HUNTER 41 DECK SALON – ANA G III – SALON/MAIN CABIN
Stepping down the companionway, we enter the bright and welcoming main salon, where nearly seven feet of headroom (6 feet 10 inches) and large windows surrounding the cabin, creates an impressively open feel. The interior is finished in cherry joinery throughout, complemented by a durable Everwear laminate sole
Immediately upon entering, the galley is located to port while the head is positioned to starboard. The aft stateroom is accessed through the starboard aft bulkhead, while the forward cabin lies through the forward bulkhead.
Just forward of the galley, a large U-shaped settee offers comfortable seating for seven to eight people around the salon table. Opposite, on the starboard side, a sofa sits forward of the navigation station, creating a spacious and inviting dining and lounge area.
Entertainment features include a Westinghouse Roku TV and a Sony Blu-ray Player; model BDP-S3700
Storage is abundant, with lockers and shelving running along both port and starboard sides above the seating areas, with additional lockers found behind and beneath the seating.
The raised deck salon design is one of the defining features of this model giving the salon a large, roomy and open feel. Large windows and portlights wrap 180 degrees around the salon, filling the space with natural light and offering wonderful visibility while seated inside.
Overhead you’ll find three opening ports, five light fixtures, a smoke alarm, and a dorade vent. Along the sides, A/C vents run both port and starboard, followed by two opening portlights and two windows on the port side, and two windows on the starboard side, plus an opening port forward.
All windows and portlights are fitted with white accordion shades, while the overhead hatches include retractable screen/shades.
Additional touches throughout the salon include lamps, Barometer/Thermometer/Hygrometer and a Weems & Plath Tide instrument.
HUNTER 41 DECK SALON – ANA G III – NAVSTATION
The forward-facing navigation station is located on the starboard side of the main cabin just forward of the head.
It features a comfortable bench seat and a full chart table, providing a proper workspace for route planning and navigation.
Mounted along the starboard side are the AC and DC electrical panels, VHF radio, Victron battery charger/inverter control panel, tank level monitor, and generator controls. Above the chart table you’ll find a clock and barometer, a B&G chart plotter, mounted hand-held Garman GPS and chart light.
HUNTER 41 DECK SALON – ANA G III – GALLEY
The large L-shaped galley to port is well suited for extended cruising and easily accommodates two people working together.

The galley is equipped with a two-burner LPG stove with oven, separate under-counter refrigerator and freezer, an over-counter microwave, a double stainless-steel sink with hot and cold running water and a cutting board insert.
Storage is equally impressive. A large full-height pantry is built into the aft bulkhead, complemented by two lockers above the counter, an additional locker below, four drawers, and an under-deck storage compartment.

The aft stateroom is located one step down to starboard of the companionway and offers a comfortable and private retreat.

Upon entering, the door to the shared head is immediately to the left. Continuing into the cabin, a vanity with mirror is located to starboard, while the berth extends along the aft bulkhead.
A cedar-lined hanging locker with shelving is located on the port side of the cabin. Additional open-top storage cubbies are positioned behind the berth headboard on the starboard side, along the aft bulkhead, and at the foot of the berth.
Ventilation is excellent, with overhead air-conditioning vents, two opening portlights on the starboard side, and an overhead hatch above the berth.
Lighting includes two reading lamps above the berth, additional overhead lights, and a three-lamp fixture above the vanity.

A mirror that folds down to reveal a medicine cabinet is mounted above the sink.
Further aft you’ll find a separate shower stall with hot and cold running water and a built-in bench seat.

HUNTER 41 DECK SALON – ANA G III – FORWARD STATEROOM
Moving forward from the salon and stepping down into the bow area brings us to the forward stateroom.
