Dark 'n Stormy Boat | 38' CH Marine 2000

The CH Marine 38' Runabout (2000) is a striking soft‑top express cruiser that blends classic yacht styling with serious offshore capability. With its black hull, rich varnished brightwork, and clean runabout lines, she presents an elegant, purposeful profile whether at rest or underway.

DARK 'n STORMY is extremely well maintained.  She has been treated to the full skills of the Hinckley company in Maine for years.  She is currently stored in doors.  She was run and tested this year, though she has had very little use over the last few years.

The 38 Runabout is a joy to travel in!  She has a wonderful ride through the waves and can maintain higher speeds in rougher conditions than most Downeast styled yachts.

I personally was on board the boat during a trip from Newport, RI to Mamaroneck, NY.  We had nice smooth water and little wind.  The entire trip lasted just round 3.5 hours.  Hard to beat that time with a car!  It was a magical trip!

Exterior and styling

  • Soft‑top express layout offers open‑air cruising with clean sightlines and an uncluttered deck.

  • Black hull paired with beautiful varnish on trim and rails creates a timeless, high‑contrast aesthetic that highlights the boat’s craftsmanship.

  • The runabout silhouette emphasizes a long, sweeping sheer and a confident bow, giving the 38‑footer a sporty yet substantial presence.
