GENESIS, the 2020 Horizon FD87 represents the cleanest FD87 on the market today and offers amenties not typically found on a 90fter such as a true designated beach club with full service bar, lounge area and kitchen located back aft on the main deck.
Designed by well respected naval architect Cor D Rover, the Horizon FD series revolutionized living onboard by allowing multiple lounge areas that can be utilized either while underway or at anchor. Her aggressive forward raked windows give the captain & crew excellent visibility while underway and her plumb bow or vertcile bow allows for fuel efficiency with her wave piercing bulb. The bow design also service another function as it creates valuable interior realestate allowing for substantial increased volume in the master cabin that is located forward on the main deck. Additionally space is created on the exterior that allows for a great forward facing sitting area and sunpads which is one of my favorite spaces to enjoy a sunset or cocktail cruise.
Starting our walk through back aft on the upgraded 2,000lb capactiy hydraulic swim-platform. This teak finished platform doubles as where you would dock your tender or she can also fit two Spark jet skis if configured properly. This owner choses to keep the space open (with tender kept on the upper deck) so not to interupt the views from the beach club that can be accessed by the garage door. Once opened you step down into the beach club that features a bar area with counter & two fixed stools, L-shaped settee, and full kitchen + TV great for catching your favorite game while remaining close to the water.
Stepping forward from the beach club you have a center line companionway that leads tolaundry facilities, storage, and two crew cabins one of which is a bunk room & the other has a full size berth that can sleep a solo captain or couple. Both cabins share a head. From here you continue forward where you have engine room access. The engine room is absolutely immaculate and features twin MTU 1600hp engines with roughly 1200 hours and twin Onan 29kw generators with roughly 1600 hours so very low use over the duration of their current life cycle. All services are current and up to date. Touching on the condition of the engine room and all machine spaces, GENESIS is run by an experienced captain and it shows throughout the yacht both cosmetically and more importantly in the machine areas onboard. This is a massive asset knowing she will survey extremely well come time of a buyers inspection.
You can access the main deck from this level via stairs located to port, great for underway or when doing night watches - nice & safe.
Once arrived on the main deck we have a large centerline table with chairs and built in settee surrounded by teak decks. Full walk arounds to both port & starboard continue forward to the bow. Fold down TV compliments the space.
Stepping into the main salon through sliding glass doors you first notice light large plank oak wood floors that really brightens the space. We first arrive into the lounge area of the salon with L-shaped settee and two comfortable chairs opposite to startboard. Built in TV also to staboard and hidden behind this is a day head which I love the positioning of close to the aft deck so very smart configuration. Continuing forward you have your interior dining space that connects to the open galley which has a fantastic layout with open counter space great for family style service.
Moving forward to starboard you have a set of stairs that lead up to the upper enclosed sky lounge & wheel house area. And all the way forward on the main deck is a 'best in class' on-deck master suite with center line king, chaise lounge chair, vanity, and then a full beam ensuite with beautiful white marble, his & hers sinks, and rain shower.
The lower deck has 3 guest cabins all of which are ensuite sleeping up to 6 guests for a total of 8 in the owners party. You will also find what I would consider one of the most important spaces onboard for day to day operations which is the laundry/pantry area that has full size washer dryers, wine cooler, two refrigerator/freezer drawers, sink and laundry facilities. A fantastic space for storage, doing heads & beds and elevating the guests experience onboard and allowing the crew to really raise the level of service they are able to provide onboard. This entire deck has large glass windows allowing plenty of natural light to flood each cabin and laundry room.
Taking the stairs to the upper skylounge and you have a space almost the same size as the lounge area in the main salon below. Another day head is located just inside the sliding glass doors that lead outside, you have another TV and of course the wheelhouse with 3 captains chairs. A fantastic glass bridge with 4 large glass panel monitors, those forward raked bridge deck windows I referenced earlier that allow for great visibility. Glass skylights float over the helm chairs allowing more natural light. And those large plank wood floors continue through the skylounge.
Heading outside you would be suprised by the volume of the exterior space considering the sky lounge is so substantial yet here we are with a full service bar with 4 bar stools, and another L-shaped settee opposite all of which are safely positioned over the hard top overhang allowing this space to be used in all weather conditions. Moving back aft you have a proper BBQ that is hidden in its own encloser, large deep freezer that doubles as a bench for sitting and then we arrive at the boat deck with 2,000lb capacity that allows for a substantial tender to be carried on deck.
To reach the bow area from the upper skylounge there is a door to starboard. Arrivng on the bow you immediately realize how high you are off the water that gives you a great vantage point for enjoying the view. Built in forward facing sitting area, and then large sunpads finish the space. You can continue forward to access your ground tackle and forepeak anchor locker.
GENESIS is not just your average Horizon FD87. She is clearly the nicest option on the market both cosmetically and mechanically.
