Designed by renowned German naval architect Georg Nissen and built by Olsen Yachts in Denmark, this 72’ modern classic yacht combines the unmistakable elegance of the great J-Class yachts with sophisticated contemporary construction and sailing performance.
ISABEL has an elegant classic profile which is smaller but nearly identical to the original J Class yachts. Her flush deck is a vast expanse of laid teak, with varnished teak trim on her fixed dodger, classic butterfly hatch skylights and a raised teak coaming surrounding the guest and helm cockpits.
She has been engineered for simple sail handling by minimal crew, with a carbon fiber mast and Park Avenue boom with lazy jacks for simple mainsail management, all sail handling winches are powered and the headsails furl hydraulically.
The Helm Cockpit is aft with an unobstructed view of the uncluttered decks and the complete sailplan, to the horizon. All engine controls, retractable bow and stern thruster controls, autopilot and engine gauges surround the helm station within easy reach. Likewise, the main sheet, traveler and running backstays are all within arm’s length of the helmsman providing full control in all circumstances.
The guest and trimming cockpit adjoins just forward, with four powerful Anderson 58ST winches for effortless sail management. Both cockpits are equipped with unobtrusive sheet storage, in combing and canvas bins, which keep all lines organized and out of the way ~ an elegant detail!
The varnished teak drop leaf table is at center in the guest cockpit with easy seating for 6+ guests, fully protected from the elements by the fixed dodger forward, which offers comfortable access to the main salon, forward below. The custom awning can be deployed for 100% coverage from the elements while at anchor or at the dock.

Entering the Main Salon from the Fixed Dodger forward of the Cockpit, the elegant inlaid varnished dining table to port is surrounded by a “U” shaped settee outboard and additional centerline seating, that offers in sum, gracious dining for 8-10 guests. The area is surrounded by bookshelves and alcoves forward and outboard, and a retractable TV on the aft bulkhead to complete the entertainment area. Natural light and ventilation are accentuated by the opening skylights above, along with through-deck natural lighting prisms.
The Galley is immediately forward of the Salon to starboard, at the mast, keel and center of rotation, in the most stable area of the vessel. The gimballed Force 10 Stove and oven is outboard to starboard, with the freezer forward including new holdover plates from the 2025 refit and the large refrigerator aft, with several deep stainless-steel pull-out drawers, all below the designer blue Corian countertop. The cabinetry is detailed and articulated for storage of utensils, cookware and china outboard. The double undermounted stainless sinks are inboard on centerline with abundant counter space fore and aft and additional cabinetry above and below, detailed for gourmet cooking. Another unique feature of the Galley is that when the cooking’s done, the Corian countertops and work surfaces are hinged to close, leaving a clean, uncluttered and smooth surface until the next mealtime.
The Master Stateroom adjoins the galley going forward, with a full King size berth, comfortable settees aft port and starboard and drawer stowage between. The double, opening butterfly hatch skylight above brings an abundance of natural light and ventilation, accentuated by several deck prisms forward to bring further natural light below. The stateroom has a tremendous amount of stowage in full height lockers on both sides of the entry vestibule from the galley, additional lockers outboard to starboard and throughout the cabin. The Master Head is outboard and aft to port, with a marble top vanity and undermounted sink with full lit mirror above, WC and fully equipped. There is a separate enclosed stall shower adjoining aft with over 6ft 4in of headroom.
In sum, the Master Stateroom is simply, an elegant and comfortable abode.
The Guest Staterooms aboard ISABEL are aft of the Salon, to port and starboard of the companionway, each with an opening port into the cockpit area for natural light and ventilation. The Port Stateroom has a double berth, with a cushioned pipe berth above that can be raised out of the way when not needed. The Stateroom has an abundance of drawer and hanging locker space for gear storage and the panels on centerline can be opened to access the engine and generator.
The Starboard Stateroom has over and under single berths, each with reading lights and shelf stowage outboard. There is a large hanging locker outboard, with additional stowage available for the guest’s gear. The inboard bulkhead has an opening panel to the engine and there is a door aft, to the utility area, generator and other mechanical equipment access.
The Guest and Day Head is outboard, forward of the Port Stateroom, with a manual Jabsco head, marble vanity with undermounted sink, mirror, teak grate and shower. Just aft is an open hanging area that serves as a ‘wet locker’ that drains to the bilge, for foul weather gear, life jackets, etc.
The Navigation Station aboard ISABEL is the operational heart of the vessel, with the main electrical panel outboard of the comfortable navigation seat and desk, which is also surrounded by all performance and navigational electronics.
The navigation table opens to store an abundance of charts and navigation information, also with a full set of drawers forward and inboard. Just aft of the navigation station is another full height set of drawers and lockers, for additional equipment and deck gear, another great use of space.
Designed by renowned German naval architect Georg Nissen and built by Olsen Yachts in Denmark, this 72’ modern classic combines the unmistakable elegance of the great J-Class yachts with sophisticated contemporary construction and sailing performance.
Her striking profile was conceived with the legendary J-Class yacht Endeavour as inspiration, characterized by graceful overhangs, a low and elegant sheer and beautifully balanced proportions. Beneath these timeless lines lies a thoroughly modern performance hull constructed primarily in Kevlar and epoxy composite, creating a structure that is both exceptionally strong and lightweight.
A hydraulic lifting keel provides an impressive combination of performance and cruising versatility, reducing draft from approximately 12’9” (3.90m) with the keel fully extended to approximately 7’5” (2.25m) when raised.
The deck and deckhouse are finished in teak, complementing her classic exterior profile and traditional yacht aesthetic. Wide, uncluttered decks provide excellent access fore and aft, while substantial sailing hardware reflects her original design brief as a yacht equally at home passage making, cruising or competing under sail.
Her modern underwater profile, lifting keel and performance-oriented construction are complemented by a carbon mast and boom and powerful sailing systems. The result is a yacht that successfully marries the beauty and presence of a classic sailing yacht with the handling, strength and performance expected of a modern design.
At 72 feet overall with a 14’11” beam, ISABEL carries the long, lean proportions that define her distinctive appearance. Her hull and deck remain central to what makes this Nissen design so special: authentic classic-yacht character without sacrificing the exceptional performance and ease of handling of the most modern performance cruisers.
