Designed by Germán Frers, the Hallberg-Rassy 46 was built between 1995 and 2005, with only 132 units produced, and was awarded Yacht of the Year in 1996. A substantial evolution of the HR 45, it introduced a significantly wider stern, increased volume, a larger cockpit and an improved steering system, anticipating the trend towards increasingly wider aft sections that would become a hallmark of modern cruising yachts.
In 2019, the boat underwent a major refit which included, among other works, the replacement of the original engine with a modern and more powerful 175 hp Volvo Penta D-175, a new generator, new standing rigging, a complete refurbishment of the electrical system and a significant interior upgrade, including the galley, bathrooms and upholstery. The aft owner's cabin was also modified to incorporate a centrally positioned double bed.
This major refit was followed by a continuous programme of maintenance and upgrades, which has been carried out over the subsequent years, including new air conditioning, a new battery charger, new additional fridge/freezer a new boom vang, and various other improvements.
So, overall, the boat is in excellent condition, with the exception of the teak deck, which is definitely one of the elements that the new owner should consider restoring within the next two to three years.
As further evidence of the care and attention with which the yacht has been maintained, the current owner developed a dedicated management App documenting the detailed history of all works and maintenance carried out on the yacht. The system also includes an interactive onboard inventory, indicating the location of every piece of equipment and machinery on board. The programme will be transferred to the new owner together with the yacht's complete paper documentation.
The berth is paid until July 2027 at the exclusive Cagliari Marina, in southern Sardinia
