The Hylas 54 is built for offshore strength and reliability, featuring a hand-laid solid fiberglass hull reinforced with Twaron aramid fiber for exceptional durability and impact resistance. Constructed with vinylester resins and isophthalic gelcoat, the hull offers excellent protection against osmosis and blistering. A lead fin keel, secured with heavy stainless steel bolts and backing plates, ensures long-term structural integrity and confidence at sea.
The deck is cored with end-grain balsa for optimal stiffness and weight savings, with solid fiberglass in high-load areas for added strength. It is securely bonded and through-bolted to the hull, creating a watertight and robust structure. Fully tabbed bulkheads and substantial floor timbers further enhance rigidity.

The Hylas 54 is highly regarded for its sailing performance and offshore capability, combining a modern cutter rig with efficient sail handling systems. Mrs. Jones is equipped with a triple-spreader Selden aluminum mast with electric in-mast furling, along with Selden Furlex furlers for both the genoa and staysail. A mast-mounted whisker pole enhances downwind performance, while all lines are led aft for safe and efficient shorthanded sailing. A full suite of Antal electric winches—including primary, secondary, mainsheet, and cabin-top—makes sail handling effortless.
Her cutter rig offers excellent versatility across a wide range of conditions, from light trade winds to heavy weather. The sail inventory includes a new North Sails in-mast furling mainsail (2024), recently serviced genoa and staysail (2024), and a 1.5 oz asymmetric cruising spinnaker.

Sails
Descending from the cockpit, you enter a bright and inviting saloon. To port is a spacious dinette, while a comfortable settee lies to starboard. The galley is positioned aft to starboard, with a well-equipped navigation station opposite to port.
Aft of the galley, the private owner’s cabin offers a centerline berth and direct access to an en-suite head and separate shower.
Forward of the saloon, a guest cabin with over/under bunks is located to port, with a second head and shower to starboard. The forward stateroom features a generous V-berth and ample storage.
