SAMSARA is a 30m, RINA classed, expedition motor yacht with an unrestricted navigational notation, "Any Ocean." She was designed to MCA/Lloyds Class 100A1 by noted naval architect Jon Overing and was commissioned in 2019 in Fort Lauderdale.
Intended for those who appreciate the finer things in life, SAMSARA offers a perfect blend of comfort and performance. Featuring spacious living areas, robust exterior decks and a healthy inventory of sporting equipment, she is an ideal yacht for exploring coastal and distant waters.
Designed to handle the worst of inclement conditions, she is an extremely efficient, stable, and safe boat due to her full displacement design- she moves through the water rather than on top of it- her hydrodynamic efficiency, round bottom, steel hull (LR steel, 8-16mm), zero speed stabilizers and light-weight marine grade aluminum superstructure.
Kirschtein Interior Designs of London was used to create a live-aboard interior which is a traditional North America cherry wood with neutral colored soft furnishings. She sleeps eight guests in four staterooms with ensuite heads and accommodates up to five crew in both the forward quarters (two heads) and the engineers' cabin aft (ensuite head).
SAMSARA was meticulously designed by Overing Yacht to be comfortable during long range expeditions, including tank testing, which is a method used to evaluate the hydrodynamic performance of a yacht's hull. Her extremely generous tankage for all fluids affords her long distance exploration. Having just returned for Fort Lauderdale from the Mediterranean, SAMSARA has travelled 38,000+ nautical miles from Glacier Bay Alaska to Istanbul, Turkey. She has seen over 125 ports of call in 25 countries and has transited both the Panama and Corinth Canals twice.
SAMSARA has two Clion Marine AC system onboard. Cooling and heating capacity as well as current consumption are twice as much:
Model - Clion Marine CH-IN 87.0
Item Number - 120625
Cooling Capacity Max - 95,000 BTU
Cooling Capacity Nom - 87,000 BTU
Heating Capacity - 89,700 BTU
Supply Voltage - 400X / 3 Phase / 50 or 60 HZ -can run both
Current Consumption - Max 13.5
*All speed and distance calculations are dependent on sea/wind conditions. Numbers are approximate.
(Speed - RPM - Fuel Consumption - Hours - Range)
13.8 knots (Max) - 2,100 rpm - 222 liters/hr - 160 hours - 2,048 miles
11.5 knots (Trans-Atlantic) - 1,900 rpm - 162 liters/hr - 220 hours - 2,530 miles
10.0 knots (Trans-Pacific) - 1,450 rpm - 80 liters/hr - 445 hours - 4,450 miles
8.5 knots (End of the Earth) - 1,250 rpm - 50 liters/hr - 712 hours - 6,052 miles
The boat deck on SAMSARA is one of her main features with over 50' of clear teak-covered deck with a large crane with extended reach feature. There is a toy rack for kayaks, paddleboards, and bike storage. The vessel has the stability to carry a larger tender that is presently on board. Foundation support and wirings pre-embedded for second crane installation.
There are large LED light bars that encircle the boat deck and forward deck, capable of fully encircling the vessel in light, plus LED spotlights to light the boat deck.
