Sea Fever Boat | 44' Symbol 1987

Sea Fever is a 1987 Symbol 44 Sun Deck MK II, and A VETERAN OF AMERICA'S GREAT LOOP. Symbol was founded in 1982 and established a solid reputation for quality "semi-custom" vessels built in Taiwan, using skilled labor providing quality craftsmanship.

The two staterooms, with en-suite heads with separate showers, as well as the additional dinette and flybridge berths, make Sea Fever the perfect vessel for two cruising couples or a family, for cruising local waters or offshore islands, for long weekends or living-aboard full time. Sea Fever can do it all.

One previous owner, a mechanical engineer, spent many months updating Sea Fever before cruising the Atlantic Coast, the Florida Keys, and the islands of the Bahamas. Sea Fever is outfitted for extended cruising and life at anchor. During a three-month cruise to the islands of the Bahamas, Sea Fever only spent two nights docked at marinas and never needed to purchase water.

An owner reported that she runs very economically on one engine, doing 7.5 knots, while sipping about 4.3 GPH. However, Sea Fever is capable of planing at 19 knots.

SALON: The salon is five steps down from the aft sun deck on Sea Fever, through a smoked tempered glass door with a dampener closer to keep the door from slamming shut. A wood hand hold is mounted above the steps, as well as an LED light, and there are shelves on either side. The bottom step has a courtesy light. The wood stairs have decorative handrails that are just some of the examples of the quality joinery on Sea Fever.

The sole of the salon is carpeted; the carpets were new in 2019 and have bound edges so they can be easily removed to access the engine hatches. There is also sound insulation under the carpeting.

A dark blue fabric upholstered bench seat is aft to port in front of the 36" smart TV which built into the cabinet. is mounted on a swing arm. There is salon storage under the bench. A light blue fabric loveseat (2021) is also to port. A Teak hi/lo table with fold-down sides can be used in front of the loveseat for additional dining space. The table features an etched gull design. Forward to port is a cabinet with a neutral Corian counter; two separate openings reveal a bar with bottle and glass storage. A large double door cabinet below provides salon storage.  A U-Line ice maker is included.

Two neutral colored leatherette adjustable chairs with extending footrests are to starboard, with a round wood and glass occasional table between them, with a swing-out leaf.

Forward to starboard is also a cabinet with a neutral Corian counter; two separate openings reveal more storage areas.  A large double cabinet below provides even more salon storage. There are opening windows at both port and starboard for fresh air ventilation with white blinds (2021).

Additional storage, perfect for spare parts, is in the three cabinets at the level of the sole, along the outside of each bulkhead.  The salon also features: a teak hand hold down the center of the headliner, two Cybernet stereo speakers in the headliner, four LED ceiling fixtures, two electrical outlets on each outside bulkhead, a hand-held VHF mounted to starboard, a fire extinguisher, a Marine Air reverse cycle AC/heat unit, two directional lights over the bar to port, and a weather station on the shelf under the TV.

There is 6'6" of headroom throughout the salon.

GALLEY: The galley on Sea Fever is forward and three steps down from the salon to starboard.  The large front windshield windows allow plenty of natural light. An opening hatch over the refrigerator, with a snap-on cover, provides additional light and fresh air ventilation.

The galley features include: neutral Corian countertops with good workspace, a double molded-in sink, a faucet with a sprayer, a built-in Oster microwave oven (2021), a Norcold 12v refrigerator/freezer with an auxiliary cabinet cooling fan (2022), LED lighting over the sink and the stove, a Teak and Holly sole, a Greystone propane three burner cooktop and oven with a Trident propane control panel and safety propane gas sensor (2021) which replaced an electric stove, an exhaust fan over the stove, a GFI electrical outlet for small appliances which is powered by the invertor,  a smoke detector, and a fire extinguisher. The decorative backsplash was new in 2021.

Galley storage includes: an open area beside the propane stove with two pull-out metal shelves, a double door storage cabinet under the sink, three lower drawers, a shelf over the counter and sink, a large lower cabinet next to the refrigerator with a shelf and deep storage, and a drawer under the stove.  There is additional pantry storage under the hatch in the sole.  A handy spice rack is over the stove.

DINETTE: The dinette is to port on Sea Fever across from the galley, on the same level. Six people can be seated comfortably at the neutral leatherette U-shaped banquette.  The beautiful teak dining table can be manually lowered to convert the dinette to an additional berth.  The Teak and Holly sole continues from the galley into the dinette.

There are three storage cabinets with teak lattice doors on the bulkhead wall.  The doors show the craftsmanship that is throughout the vessel.  The directional lighting fixtures are LED, and there is an electrical outlet.  There is additional storage available under the banquette cushions, and in a drawer at the end of the forward banquette section.

MASTER STATEROOM: The master stateroom on Sea Fever is aft four steps down from the salon.  It features a centerline queen sized walk-around berth.  Nightstands on either side of the berth have two storage cubbies beneath them with courtesy lights. The sole is carpeted (2019).  There is a large hatch to the swim platform centered on the wall behind the berth, and double door storage cabinets at ceiling height on each side of the hatch.

The outside bulkheads on either side of the full-beam stateroom are lined with cabinets with louvered doors, with an upper shelf below curtained the windows. They are a combination of lighted hanging lockers and shelved storage.  One of the cabinets currently with shelving, to starboard, once housed a combination washer/dryer; that cabinet is still plumbed to add a washer/dryer if the new owner wishes. There is additional cabinet storage below that locker.  The water maker is located in the bottom of a lighted hanging locker to port, which is really handy for changing the filters and other routine maintenance.

An opening across from the berth houses a 19" Toshiba TV with cable TV hookup. There is a deep double door storage cabinet below.

The master stateroom also features: two directional reading lights, four LED lights in the ceiling, courtesy lights around the bottom of the berth, a courtesy light at the bottom of the steps from the salon, two Cybernet stereo speakers in the rear, a CO detector, a fire extinguisher, a smoke detector, an electrical outlet at each nightstand (starboard outlet powered by the inverter) as well as aft on each upper shelf, headroom of 6'6", a full length mirror, and curtained windows over the side cabinets.  The control panel for solar panels is mounted to port, near the berth.  The Marine Air reverse cycle AC/heat unit is to forward of the berth, with a door to close off the vent.

There is a sight glass for the freshwater tank, which is located under the berth.  Access to the rudder compartment is under the berth.

The split ensuite master head is to port with the separate shower stall to starboard.

SPLIT MASTER HEAD AND SHOWER: The large ensuite master shower stall is to starboard on Sea Fever.  It has a teak floor grate; the shower floor was rebuilt in 2018.  The shower also has a seat/shelf with a double door storage cabinet, an opening window, a towel bar, a light, an exhaust fan, a louvered teak door, and a handheld shower head.  Headroom in the shower is 6'5".  A three-prong towel/robe hook is mounted outside the door.

The ensuite master head is to port on Sea Fever.  An LED light fixture is over the louvered door in the master stateroom.  The electric Jabsco head has a Lectrasan USCG approved wastewater treatment system, with a selector valve for diverting to the holding tank while in no-discharge zones (2021).
