2000 CATALINA 400 MARK II
"SJOJUNGFRUN"
Overview
Sjojungfrun is a 2000 Catalina 400 Mark II, the wing-keel version of one of Catalina Yachts' most popular cruising designs — a boat built around the idea that a 40-footer should be as easy to live aboard as it is to sail short-handed. Designed by Frank Butler and built by Catalina Yachts, the 400 earned a reputation for a roomy, liveable interior that is one of the 400's strongest selling points, pairing that space with a hull that can surprise you with competent performance. Below decks, Sjojungfrun backs that reputation up with two private staterooms plus a convertible settee in the salon, sleeping up to seven, along with two heads, reverse-cycle air conditioning and heat, and a teak-and-holly cabin sole underfoot. Her 5'6" wing keel makes her especially well suited to Pacific Northwest cruising grounds, drawing little enough to explore the shoal bays and marinas of the Salish Sea while still carrying 8,000 lbs of lead ballast for stability offshore. Owned by the same couple for the past six years and sailed throughout Puget Sound, Desolation Sound, Lake Washington, and the South Sound, she comes well equipped with a 2021 diesel generator, a freshly serviced Yanmar diesel, and a five-battery AGM house bank — a comfortable, well-sorted cruiser ready for her next owner.
Key Features
Shoal Wing Keel: 5'6" draft lead wing keel carrying 8,000 lbs of ballast — ideal for exploring the Pacific Northwest's shallower anchorages and marinas without giving up offshore stability
2021 Diesel Generator: NexxtGen 3.5 kW genset, only 12 hours since installation, for reliable off-grid power at anchor
Fresh Electrical System: Five-battery, 700 amp-hour AGM house bank (two Group 4D plus three Group 24), AC battery charger, galvanic isolator, and a 1,000-watt inverter
Recently Upgraded VHF: Standard Horizon VHF radio, installed 2023
Robust Ground Tackle: CQR anchor with 275 ft of chain and 300 ft of rode, controlled by an electric windlass
Comprehensive Galley: Princess three-burner LP range with oven, dual stainless sinks, 12V refrigeration with separate freezer, and both 110V and 220V AC service
Well-Documented Maintenance: Recent oil and transmission service (August 2026), fresh zincs (May 2026), no known gel coat or fiberglass blisters, and an intact epoxy barrier coat under an ablative bottom job (2020)
Dinghy Included: Endeavor inflatable dinghy with oars and a 5 hp four-stroke Mercury outboard, carried on deck davits
