The Nordic 44 is an American-built fiberglass masthead sloop designed by Robert Perry as a high-performance cruiser-racer. First launched in 1980 and produced through the 1980s, roughly 40 hulls were built. It is widely celebrated for its seaworthiness, balanced helm, and classic lines.
Design and Performance
• Deep fin keel with a skeg-hung rudder, moderate overhangs, and a well-balanced entry.
• Fast, close-winded, and exceptionally stable in heavy weather, often described as handling like a "big pussycat".
• Rich teak joinery, traditional teak-and-holly soles.
• Deep, secure cockpit and heavy-duty deck hardware built for offshore blue-water cruising.
The boat has an original plan with a rear cabin opening onto the companionway with its private bathroom, a large saloon isolated by a double door and a forward owner’s cabin also having its own bathroom. The dinette table in the salon can be converted into a large berth and the U-shaped kitchen is spacious and welcoming.
