Windigo Yacht | 73' Hinckley 1956

WINDIGO is a magnificent 22.32-metre yawl designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built in 1956 by Henry R. Hinckley Co. in the United States.

Originally launched as VENTURER and later renamed AUDACIOUS, she has an important racing history on both sides of the Atlantic and is a fine example of the great American ocean-racing yachts of the 1950s.

During her long career, WINDIGO achieved notable results including an elapsed-time record in the Bermuda Race, second place in the 1963 Transpac and several victories in classic yacht regattas, including Antigua Sailing Week and later Mediterranean events.

The yacht underwent an extensive restoration in 2004, carried out by Classic Yachts Management together with Cantieri Sangermani. The work included a complete inspection of the structure, renewal of the teak deck, new engine, new systems, new masts and rigging and significant interior work.

A further major restoration was completed in 2013 at Cantieri dell’Argentario, including replacement of underwater planking, structural inspection and restoration of frames and floors and refastening in silicon bronze.

WINDIGO offers accommodation in 3 spacious double cabins with 3 bathrooms, together with a separate forward crew area. For offshore racing, the yacht can accommodate up to 14 berths.

Her large saloon, practical galley, protected doghouse and generous deck spaces make her equally suitable for cruising and classic yacht racing.

Powered by a Yanmar 200 hp engine, she is also equipped with a 15 kW generator, watermaker, modern navigation equipment and a comprehensive sail wardrobe.

Maintained continuously and regularly hauled for seasonal service, WINDIGO represents a rare opportunity to acquire a historically significant Sparkman & Stephens classic yacht combining pedigree, performance and genuine cruising capability.
