David grew-up racing sailing-dinghies in England at a very young age and, as soon as he was able, started racing offshore, eventually completing two Fastnet races, a Sydney/Hobart race, a Trans-Atlantic race and many others. The pursuit of his sailing passion led to four Atlantic crossings and a circumnavigation.
After a brief legal career in London, David sailed to the US, where he started a successful yacht delivery business, captaining Charterboats in the Bahamas and the Caribbean and, ultimately, running a number of large Power Yachts for private individuals and corporations.
With a passion for navigation, David joined Decca in New York, an early marine radar pioneer, and cut his ‘sales’ teeth selling first generation anti-collision radars to the New York based offshore tanker industry. He transferred to Fort Lauderdale a year later to set-up and manage Decca’s distribution in the Southeast USA and, subsequently, held corporate executive positions with several brand-leading marine electronics manufacturers.
After a brief retirement, David decided that a lifetime of boating experience, and a continuing passion for boats and boating, could be put to good use as a yacht broker where he now enjoys great success advising and guiding his clients in the purchase and sales of the boats of their dreams..

David is a different type of yacht broker. He takes an interest in what you are looking for, not just “here take this boat”. Having ‘run the gamut’ of other yacht brokers trying to sell my 46′ Matthews, without success, I found David, who was able take on the task in a crummy market.
He worked with me to find a qualified buyer from among all the ‘hull-kickers’. He found a buyer, and my boat was sold. Now we could buy the Hatteras I really wanted. David spent a lot of time searching for the right boat. We spent time traveling to look at different Hatteras yacht. He gave his advice on each one we looked at until we found the right one. He never pressured me into a boat. I really appreciated that.
We eventually found and bought the Hatteras I own now. The Hatteras he found for us met and exceeded our expectations. David’s help didn’t stop there.
Since the closing, he has continued to assist us, providing helpful information and resources in supplying answers to a number of issues. Along the way we became friends and I would not hesitate to recommend him, and I have, to anyone looking for a boat or a yacht. He is a hard working yacht broker who understands that his job in selling boats also builds long-lasting relationships with clients.

Purchasing a yacht is not a straight forward affair. When you add to the mix 15 hour time zone differences and foreign currency transactions the process becomes a whole lot more complicated. Your choice of yacht broker becomes critical. We lucked in!
David Parkinson from Denison Yacht Sales has brought an ocean of experience and professionalism. Trust, timely communication, and a good sense of humour. We know we’ve got the right guy! Thanks David, with you on our team the boat we are searching for is definitely sailing our way!
