The Balance 540 represents the next evolution of high-performance bluewater voyaging, building on the legendary Balance 526 with greater speed, volume, payload capacity, and refinement—without sacrificing ease of operation. Designed for experienced couples who refuse to choose between performance and comfort, the 540 is longer on the waterline, carries more sail area, and delivers exceptional light-air and top-end performance while remaining remarkably easy to sail shorthanded.
Built using Balance’s full Carbon Core epoxy construction, the 540 features carbon bulkheads, cabin soles, structural panels, daggerboards, rudders, forebeam, and longeron for superior stiffness, reduced weight, and a quieter, more refined ride. For owners seeking even more carbon, the Carbon Core+ version extends carbon construction to the coach roof, cockpit, foredeck, and transoms. Increased hull volume and beam aft allow for higher cruising payloads, larger systems, and true king-size aft cabins without compromising sailing performance.
A permanent cutter rig with three furling headsails allows rapid power control in changing conditions, while all sail handling is managed from the award-winning VersaHelm®, delivering exceptional sightlines and all-weather control. The new sliding VersaStern™ door allows the aft cockpit to be securely closed at sea or fully opened at anchor, seamlessly connecting the cockpit and swim platform.
Inside, the 540’s salon is over 2.6 feet longer than her predecessor, with a wide, flush-sill sliding door creating effortless indoor-outdoor flow. The Italian-inspired interior features frameless cabinetry, real wood finishes, an island galley, and a convertible lounge-style settee. Multiple interior layouts are available, including three- and four-cabin owner configurations, making the 540 equally suited for private ownership or luxury crewed charter.
Energy efficiency is central to the design, with optional diesel-electric hybrid propulsion, high-output 48-volt charging, and up to 3,000 watts of flush-mounted solar integrated into the coach roof. Exceptional natural ventilation, expansive visibility, and thoughtful storage throughout complete a catamaran that delivers true long-range performance voyaging—fast, gracious, and effortlessly balanced.
