Avalon Boat | 36' Shannon 1993
"Avalon" was custom built by Shannon Boat Company in Bristol, RI. She was designed by Royal Nowell. By previous builders this design was know as; Bruno Stillman 35, Harris Cuttyhunk 36 and the Nauset 36. Nauset improved and modified the original hull design by adding a forward chine/spray rail.
Her bottom is solid fiberglass layup below the waterline and cored above. Her chines are round in the stern, her propeller is protected with a key and shoe that connects the keel and rudder in proper New England Lobster boat fashion.
The interior is handcrafted. It is done in the classic style of white surfaces mixed with varnished hardwood joinery. (note: The cabin sole is not veneer. It is solid wood that is screwed and bunged) Every space available has been made accessible to maximize storage with drawers, doors and lockers.
Entering the main cabin the salon has port and starboard settees with a centerline drop-leaf table. Both settees extend for that little extra room for when they are used for sleeping.
Forward in the salon is the lower helm station with seat to starboard and the companions navigation seat with flip-up chart table. Both of the seat-backs fold down for addition flat surfaces for use when entertaining or just lounging.
The galley is down and to port. However, it is not so low as too feel isolated from the main cabin. It is U-shaped and very efficient.
Across from galley is an enclosed head that unique in a boat of this size. It has the typical head, sink, vanity but it also has a separate stall shower.

Forward is the owners cabin with an offset double berth, Hanging locker, drawers, shelves and lockers.
