PILOTHOUSE & LAYOUT

The Picnic Boat 39’s pilothouse is designed as the social center of the boat, with excellent visibility, comfortable seating, and an easy connection between the cockpit and the new forward seating area.

At the helm, the captain sits forward with excellent sightlines through the large, curved windshield. Rather than isolating the helm from the guests, the seating arrangement keeps the captain very much part of the conversation. The companion seating is slightly elevated, providing passengers with good visibility while underway and creating a comfortable place to sit for longer runs. 

The galley and bar are incorporated directly into the pilothouse, rather than being tucked away below. This puts refrigeration, an ice box, storage, drinks and food preparation right in the middle of the entertaining space. It also means whoever is preparing drinks or lunch remains part of the group while underway. 

One of the biggest differences from previous Picnic Boats is how the pilothouse connects to the forward lounge. A clever sliding-window arrangement provides direct passage forward, so you can move from the cockpit, through the pilothouse, and directly into the bow seating area rather than having to work your way along narrow side decks. This creates three distinct but connected social areas—cockpit, pilothouse, and forward seating—that feel like one continuous entertaining space. 

The result is a pilothouse that gives you sun and spray protection when you want it, without making you feel separated from the outdoor areas of the boat. It works particularly well with a larger group because some guests can sit protected inside while others use the cockpit or bow, yet everyone still feels connected.

HULL & DECK

The Hinckley Picnic Boat 39 uses Hinckley’s advanced DualGuard™ SCRIMP® composite construction, engineered to produce a hull that is exceptionally strong and stiff while keeping weight down. The hull incorporates carbon fiber and E-glass composites, which are vacuum-infused using the SCRIMP process. This allows the resin to thoroughly saturate the reinforcement under vacuum, producing a highly consistent structure with an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. 

The 39’s hull is a deep-V design with 22 degrees of deadrise at the transom. Combined with the lightweight, rigid composite structure, this is intended to provide a soft, solid ride in rougher conditions while maintaining the efficiency needed for her 33-knot cruise and 38-knot top speed. The hull also incorporates significant bow flare to help knock down spray and keep the forward seating area dry. 

The end result is a hull designed to be lighter, stiffer and stronger than a conventional fiberglass laminate, which contributes not only to performance and fuel efficiency but also to the solid, quiet feel underway that Hinckley is known for.
