The Hallberg-Rassy 42F MKII, designed by the acclaimed naval architect Germán Frers, is celebrated worldwide as one of the finest bluewater cruising sailboats ever built. Constructed between 1994 and 2001, the HR42 earned its reputation through exceptional offshore performance, robust Swedish build quality, and the kind of thoughtful, sea-friendly design that serious passage-makers demand. With her deep fin keel, partially skeg rudder, and famously over sized rig, the HR42 is equally at home on a Chesapeake Bay summer cruise or a transatlantic crossing.
"Summer" represents one of the most well-equipped HR42 MkIIs you will find anywhere, and she was built and delivered new with US electrical systems. A single-owner boat since new, she has been ordered with an extraordinary factory options list and lovingly maintained and strategically upgraded throughout her life. In 2018 alone, both the main engine and generator were replaced new, ensuring the mechanical heart of the boat is young and reliable. Her sails are recent factory originals from Hallberg-Rassy, her electronics suite is extensive, and her finish remains in remarkable condition for a vessel of her vintage. She presents beautifully at the dock with her white hull, navy boot stripe, varnished teak caprails, and a hard dodger with tempered glass windows and varnished teak framing that is the envy of any marina.
Whether you are planning a Caribbean circuit, a transatlantic crossing, or simply the finest liveaboard cruising experience the Chesapeake and beyond can offer. The owner also has an extensive collection of spare parts onboard making her ready to go today. She is the rare boat that checks every box, capable enough for offshore passage-making, comfortable enough for extended liveaboard cruising, and turnkey enough to leave the dock this weekend. Boats of this specification, condition, and single-owner provenance rarely come to market, and when they do, they do not last long.
