Norseman has a long history of building ocean-going yachts. The builder has built custom superyachts and larger trawler motor yachts with an emphasis on offshore capability, engineering and construction quality.

That experience is reflected in the C280's approach to construction. Rather than simply being a recreational center console, the Norseman combines a substantial aluminum structure, purpose-built systems and practical offshore-oriented features with a refined finish. The result is a center console with a pedigree rooted in serious yacht and shipbuilding.

5083-H116 and 5052-H32 aluminum-magnesium alloy are used on the hull, deck and structural frames, ranging from 4mm to 6mm in thickness. The hull incorporates a longitudinal and transverse stringer system. The exterior surface is finished with Hampel solid-color paint. The bottom has two coats of epoxy primer barrier coat and three coats of anti-fouling paint.

The main deck features adjustable helm seats, diamond-stitched upholstery, cockpit stern-facing seats and EVA synthetic teak walk-around decking. Hull-side storage bays, main-deck storage lockers and a foredeck anchor locker provide useful storage throughout the boat.

A live bait tank with lifting top, self-draining deck and scuppers, exterior LED courtesy lighting, raw-water foredeck washdown, retractable swim ladder, seven-rod rocket launcher, and drink holders make the C280 particularly well suited to fishing and outdoor recreation.

The high-end aluminum center console incorporates the steering wheel, compass, engine controls and equipment switches, along with the extensive Garmin electronics package. The FRP composite hardtop is vacuum infused and cored with high-strength PVC foam. Grab rails are fitted around the hardtop, helm and inside rooftop, along with lighting and a navigation mast. A custom radar arch has also been installed.

The vessel has a 12V DC electrical system with 120V / 60 Hz AC outputs from the inverter/charger. Two deep-cycle 12V/200Ah batteries are provided, one for each engine. A JMT 40A, 12V DC charger and 3,000W, 120V AC inverter provide charging and onboard AC power. Additional equipment includes backlit AC/DC distribution panels with marine-grade wiring, battery selection switches, electrical bonding, a galvanic isolator, Aqua Signal LED navigation lights, a remote-control searchlight, LED lighting throughout and one 50-amp shore power connection.

Mechanical equipment includes a fire extinguisher system for the mechanical room, Seaflo 12V DC fresh-water and waste discharge pumps, a Seaflo 2,000 GPH 12V DC bilge pump with float switch and a Seaflo 750 GPH automatic bilge pump. The marine head is a Jabsco electric toilet. Steering is via a Seastar hydraulic steering system, with an electronic steering system available depending on engine configuration.

The 103-gallon aluminum fuel tank includes level sensors and gauges. The 26-gallon aluminum holding tank includes level sensors, gauges and a Y-valve for deck pump-out or overboard discharge. Fresh water capacity is 25 gallons.

Deck hardware includes four 316 stainless-steel cleats bolted to the deck with backing plates and appropriate barrier coating and isolation pads. The polished stainless-steel anchor is secured with 100 feet of 8mm high-test chain rode and a quick-release shackle near the locker opening. A raw-water deck wash outlet is located at the foredeck.
