BEQUIA is a rare find — a high-performance world cruiser with serious regatta credentials and timeless style. Built in 2009 by the legendary Brooklin Boat Yard in Maine, she blends traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering in a way few yachts can.
Still with her original owner and longtime captain, BEQUIA has been professionally maintained and consistently upgraded since launch. She’s a yacht that’s been cared for by the same hands that built her sailing legacy — and it shows.
From the start, BEQUIA was designed to do both — cruise oceans comfortably and compete successfully. Her cold-molded hull is a work of art, crafted from Douglas Fir, Western Red Cedar, and Sipo Mahogany, all reinforced with biaxial fiberglass and epoxy for strength and durability.
Her rig is all business: Southern Spars carbon masts, Future Fibers EC6 rigging, and an up-to-date North Sails inventory for racing and passage making alike. In-boom furling on both the main and mizzen makes sail handling efficient and even allows for short-handed or near-singlehanded sailing — impressive for a yacht of her size.
Step below and BEQUIA feels like a New England coastal home at sea — warm, inviting, and built with purpose. The pilothouse offers 360° visibility, with comfortable seating for watching the world go by underway.
The main salon is beautifully detailed in Douglas Fir, centered around a custom fireplace and built-in seating that gives it a cozy, timeless feel. Forward, the galley is fully equipped for serious cooking and connects naturally with the crew spaces and captain’s cabin aft.
BEQUIA’s exterior is as practical as it is beautiful. Her classic yawl profile and varnished pilothouse are unmistakable, while clever modern details make life aboard easy:
Whether you’re setting out on a blue water passage or preparing for your next regatta, BEQUIA is a yacht that’s ready to go — and built to impress.

Bequia’s raised pilothouse is both a sheltered helm and a comfortable lounge. Built in teak, it offers clear views, a full navigation station, and settees for dining or relaxing. The space is practical at sea, giving crew a protected steering option with an inside joystick control. Traditional butterfly hatches provide light and airflow, keeping the area bright and fresh. Designed for comfort and function, the pilothouse works equally well for navigating in bad weather or gathering with guests, making it the centerpiece of life aboard.
On deck, Bequia carries a classic cutter yawl rig that delivers excellent balance and seakeeping, making her equally suited to offshore passage making and competitive racing. This versatile rig setup provides multiple sail plan options for changing conditions, ensuring the yacht remains stable, manageable, and fast on long passages.
For performance, Bequia is equipped with carbon fiber masts and carbon standing rigging, reducing weight aloft and improving stability. Her suite of North Sails 3Di racing and cruising sails provides generous power across the wind range, making helming both responsive and exciting. This combination of traditional rig design and modern materials gives Bequia the rare ability to blend elegance with serious performance offshore.
The main salon on Bequia is bright, open, and designed as the heart of the yacht. A gas fireplace with a hidden flatscreen TV creates a warm focal point, while an L-shaped settee and sofa provide comfortable seating for guests. The raised-panel joinery, white overheads, and dark cabin sole give the space a classic yet relaxed feel. Large ports bring in natural light and maintain connection to the sea. The salon also includes a dedicated dining area and built-in storage, making it practical for extended cruising. Whether relaxing, entertaining, or dining, the salon is both elegant and functional.
Bequia’s galley is designed for serious cruising, with full-size appliances, generous counter space, and ample cold storage. Built-in cabinets and lockers keep provisions organized for extended passages, while durable finishes ensure practicality at sea. Positioned for easy access to both crew and guest areas, the galley supports everything from casual meals to full onboard entertaining.
The aft, full-beam owner’s suite offers privacy and comfort with a queen berth, ample hanging lockers, and built-in storage for extended cruising. Traditional joinery and light finishes create a warm atmosphere, while large ports bring in natural light and ventilation. A private en suite includes a separate shower and generous counter space. Designed for functionality and elegance, this suite is a quiet retreat at sea or at anchor.
The forward guest cabin features two twin berths, making it ideal for family or guests. Traditional joinery and light finishes create a warm atmosphere, while built-in lockers provide practical storage. Overhead hatches and ports bring in natural light and ventilation. A private en suite with shower completes the space, ensuring comfort and convenience for extended cruising.
The starboard midships guest cabin features a comfortable double berth with built-in lockers and storage, making it well-suited for extended cruising. Traditional joinery and light finishes maintain the yacht’s classic interior style, while ports bring in natural light and ventilation. A private en suite with shower ensures guests have the same comfort and practicality offered throughout Bequia.
The captain’s cabin, located aft near the galley, provides a private berth with built-in storage and a functional layout for extended time onboard. Ports bring in light and ventilation, while traditional joinery maintains the yacht’s warm interior style. A private en suite with shower ensures the captain enjoys comfort and practicality while remaining close to the yacht’s working areas.

Mast, Rigging, and Sails:
Bequia features carbon fiber masts from Southern Spars in New Zealand. It also has carbon fiber standing rigging from Future Fibers. As a further nod to performance and easier sail handling, furling booms are installed on both the main and mizzen. Both rigs have been unstepped for the winter, allowing for inspection and servicing. In 2024, the standing rigging was serviced and recertified. The sail handling system onboard is designed for shorthanded sailing, weather racing, or cruising.
Cruising Sails:
Racing Sails:
Built by Brooklin Boat Yard, renowned for Spirit of Tradition yachts, Bequia features cold-molded construction: Douglas Fir inner planking, two layers of Western Red Cedar, and an outer layer of Sipo Mahogany, sheathed in biaxial fiberglass with WEST System epoxy. A shoal fin keel with 43,000-lb J-bolt fastened lead shoe and a carbon spade rudder deliver strength, balance, and performance.
