The Symbol 55 Yachtfisher is a distinctive yacht with a sweeping sheer and a gracefully styled profile. She was designed by world-renowned naval architect, Jack Sarin who became Symbol’s exclusive designer. Sarin has four decades of yacht design experience and is well known for his timeless mega-yacht designs. 

The Symbol 55 Yachtfisher offers a roomy cockpit with an expansive flying bridge, sundeck lounge, three generous cabin accommodations, and two full heads, all finished in a traditional Burmese teak satin interior. "Outbound" has been completely refit (present owner) and redecorated by Sylvia Bolton Design. She boasts new custom inlaid teak tables and recently installed Brazilian Ebony floors. The galley features all-new appliances with a full-size 2-door, 2-drawer Samsung refrigerator, a 4-burner induction stove, and a built-in Panasonic 1000-watt microwave. The galley sink is a new Ruvati commercial rectangular stainless-steel sink that will please any chef. Opposite the galley is a large four-person dinette with a custom-inlaid wood table and a stainless-steel high-low base. The dinette table features a Wenge top with an inlaid compass rose and an inlaid maple border, with teak sea-rails. Other onboard amenities include two Biko 220-volt front-loading washers and dryers, a new Olympia 60,000 BTU hydronic heating system, and a Marine Air reverse-cycle air-conditioning system. 

On the heated flybridge, she has a full array of Garmin Navigation and a complete Furuno NavNet system for backup, including a Furuno autopilot with satellite compass. She has two completely redundant navigation systems with two radars (Garmin & Furuno), 2 VHF radios, two fishing color sounders with multiple-beam transducers, and Garmin forward-looking sonar. She has a FLIR infrared night-vision camera with Clear Cruise software, an integrated AR 200 augmented-reality sensor, and a wide-view Ramnarine backup camera for docking. There are multiple MFD displays for plotting, radar, and cameras (8 displays) as well as a new computer navigation system using Coastal Explorer. A wireless trackball mouse is mounted on the armrest of the center helm chair.

The cockpit is large with three opening deck hatches to the lazarette and a wide transom door to the swim step. Also mounted in the cockpit is a 2nd stainless steel electric davit with a custom electric crab pot puller. This davit is also set up to pick an 800cc motorcycle for convenient onboard transportation to fully explore and enjoy your ports of call. There are stainless steel tie downs on the deck to secure the bike. The swim platform is fully integrated with a large transom door and four polished stainless staple rails for security. 

On Deck, Outbound has a Brower electric davit and a stainless-steel tender cradle for carrying the 10' AB inflatable with a 20 hp Honda outboard. Her wide side decks have 1 ¼” stainless stanchion railings that feature integral tube fender storage (4 fenders). She has a robust anchor pulpit with a Maxwell 3500-capstan/chain-wheel windlass and a Rocna Vulcan 35 Kg anchor, with 200 ft of 3/8 in. chain and 150 ft of line rode. There is a fresh- and saltwater washdown system, and two large, fixed LED spotlights on the anchor pulpit railings for log and crab-pot watch while traveling at night. Her prop shafts have surgically sharp Shaft Shark line cutters.

The decks have new Seadek nonskid synthetic teak decking on the flybridge, sundeck, cockpit, and swim step. Her side decks and foredeck nonskid are Awlgrip in Moondust. Among several floor plans offered during her construction, the three-stateroom layout shown below was the most popular. In this arrangement, both the galley and dinette are down, and queen berths are found in the fore and aft staterooms. When Outbound was initially built, the lower helm was omitted to increase the salon size, which features two Ekornes Stressless reclining chairs upholstered in suede leather on the starboard side. Opposite on port is a large L-shaped leather sofa for entertainment with a 52-inch 4K VizioTV with sound bar mounted on the aft bulkhead that provides a theater experience. The salon stereo was custom installed by Magnolia Hifi with built-in speakers and a subwoofer. The custom salon table features an inlaid compass rose with a stainless-steel high-low base. All interior tables feature Wenge tops with center compass rose inlays and maple borders with teak sea-rails. 

Additional features include a split level hardtop on the flybridge and sundeck with a new canvas full enclosure. The hard tops are fitted with eight solar panels that output up to 2.4 kW continuously during the day. Her 800 amp hour 12V AGM batteries easily supply plenty of energy at night without requiring the use of the 12 kW Northern Lights generator. The inverter is a Magnum 2.8 kW pure sign wave inverter. Outbound is powered by 435hp twin Caterpillar diesels. The Symbol 55 Yachtfisher will cruise comfortably at 16–18 knots or 11 knots if you're maximizing fuel efficiency. 

The Symbol 55 Yachtfisher is a big boat inside thanks to her wide 16-foot, 9-inch beam. She’s built on a solid fiberglass Modified V hull with 20 degree deadrise that has pronounced lifting strakes for directional stability. Her flared bow has a long overhang and provides a soft dry ride in heavy chop. 

The engine room is accessed by a lift up stairwell door and features a large mechanics tool box with drawers for easy engine maintenance. Outbound has been continuously upgraded with two completely rebuilt Caterpillar 3208 435 hp diesels in 2023, with only 60 hours in 2025. These were complete rebuilds by a certified Caterpillar mechanic (NC Machine). All replacement parts, including pistons and bearings, were Caterpillar OEM parts (receipts available). All machine work, sleeves, heads and crank and cam shafts were done by Cam Grinders Machine Shop in Seattle (receipts available). The new marine exhausts were redesigned and replaced with Exhaust Riser Cans by Jason Smith at JNL welding. All running gear was removed, inspected, and reinstalled with new cutlass bearings and PYI Dripless seals in 2022. Both 4-blade propellers were balanced and tuned by Kruger. An 11 hp Side Power 24-volt bow thruster was also installed in 2022. There are two control stations, one on the flybridge and one on the sundeck, for backing - both have shifting and thruster controls.
