FUSION 80

The Gunboat Fusion 80 is an 80 foot Gran Turismo sailing catamaran that blends Gunboat’s performance DNA with a much more residential style interior. Built in La Grande-Motte in the south of France, the yacht is positioned as a high performance cruising platform for owners who want long range sailing, big volume, and a very polished design language in one package.

Naval architecture is by VPLP, with exterior lines from Patrick le Quément and Christophe Chedal-Anglais and interior architecture from Kristian Gavoille and Valérie Garcia. The result is a multihull that still carries Gunboat’s sharp, performance oriented stance, but adds more sculpted superstructure, a flybridge, and expanded living spaces that feel closer to a modern penthouse than a traditional yacht interior.

Fusion 80 introduces what Gunboat calls the Gran Turismo Catamaran concept. The boat is designed to sail efficiently in light air to cut down on engine hours, with a hull form and composite structure that keep weight in check for offshore passages. At the same time, the layout emphasizes lifestyle and comfort: a panoramic salon with a dual sided lounge and dining area, an integrated flybridge for elevated helming and social space, and a forward lounge cockpit that connects guests directly to the bow area and the water.

One of the signature features is the approximately 19 square meter master suite positioned at water level, with private access to the sea. This cabin is framed by large glass surfaces, with lounge seating, workspace, and integrated storage that are meant to feel like a shore side apartment rather than a traditional cabin. The elevated aft cockpit is set up as a proper outdoor room, with modular furniture, a dining table for up to ten guests, and a fully equipped wet bar that flows directly from the salon.

Construction uses advanced composite techniques focused on weight optimization and stiffness, with a carbon fiber hull and deck structure and aerospace style detailing. The design brief is to create a catamaran that can cross oceans quickly, spend most of its time actually sailing, and still offer quiet, comfortable liveaboard conditions for owners, family, and friends.
