West Marine Flagship Grand Opening Set For Connecticut

The West Marine flagship store in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, will host its grand opening celebration from April 12-15.

The new store is 25,000 square feet and has a larger selection of saltwater fishing gear and tackle specifically selected for the region. The new store also includes a Port Supply Hub, offering timely delivery of a broad selection of marine accessories and products.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony with Old Saybrook First Selectman Carl Fortuna, West Marine CEO Geoff Eisenberg and representatives from charitable organizations benefiting from the “Cruising for a Cause” fundraiser is scheduled for 6 p.m. April 12.

The “Cruising for a Cause” charity event supports local marine-based non-profits, including Mystic Seaport, Sea-Legs Inc., the Connecticut Marine Trades Association, the Pettipaug Yacht Club Sailing Academy, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Maritime Education Network.

West Marine also is searching for Texas marine-based non-profits to be the beneficiaries of a “Cruising for a Cause” charity celebration set for May 3 at its new Clear Lake flagship store.

“We are eager to hear from marine-based non-profits who would like to participate in ‘Cruising for a Cause.’ The Clear Lake crew is ready to have fun while raising much-needed funds for marine-based charities based in the Bay Area of Greater Houston,” store manager Nolan Vander Haagen said in a statement.
