Chinese Government Yacht & Boat Show to Debut in 2013

The first Chinese government-supported boat show, Boat China & Water Sports Expo 2013, will take place May 10-12 in the Guangzhou Pazhou Complex.

China has mainland and island coastlines of 18,000 kilometers and 14,000 kilometers, respectively. The vast and diversified water area provides a favorable environment for the development of a yacht industry in China, show organizers said.

The developed area is concentrated mainly in the southeast of China, where there are abundant water resources, such as inland rivers, lakes and offshore waters.

The GDP per capita in coastal, developed provinces such as Guangdong achieved $7,000, and in first-tier cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai it has reached $10,000, all of which exceeded the threshold for rapid growth of yacht consumption, Boat China 2013 said.

Because the Chinese yacht manufacturing industry is still in the early stages of development, international yacht brands dominate the medium and high-end yacht market in China; most of the Chinese enterprises focus on the medium and low-end yacht market, show organizers said.

Because of the rapid development of the large private yacht market, the Chinese government paid significant attention to stimulating the yacht industry economy.

Boat China is an annual event approved by the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC, co-sponsored by the Trade Development Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations, and organized by the Guangdong Yacht Industry Association.

Powerboats, sailboats, yachts, related accessories, fishing and diving supplies and equipment, electronics and marine accessories will be showcased at the China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex from May 10-12.

The objective of Boat China is to create the largest trade event and showcase for yachts and related accessories.

In addition, the 2013 World Yacht Industry Summit Forum of the International CEO Roundtable of Chinese and Foreign will be held during the same period and will attract the world’s politicians, leaders in multinationals and senior executives in the yacht industry and other related fields.

Together with Boat China & Water Sports Expo organizer, the committee hopes to encourage exchanges between China and the rest of the world and further develop the Chinese yacht economy.
